Dr. Maya Maroto is a Vice President at FoodMinds, a division of Padilla. FoodMinds provides consulting and communications services specializing in harnessing science, public affairs, food values, and communications to meet business and public health objectives. Dr. Maroto has more than 15 years of experience translating nutrition science and regulations to inform strategic communications outreach and programming. Prior to joining FoodMinds, she served as a Vice President at the Partnership for a Healthier America (PHA) where she led key food equity initiatives. Her experience also includes service at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition (CFSAN) and at the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) where she managed award-winning nationwide nutrition education and outreach initiatives. Prior to government service, Dr. Maroto spent many years in academia and still serves as an adjunct professor of nutrition science at the George Washington University Milken Institute School of Public Health. She is a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) and has a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Morgan State University, a Master of Public Health in Nutrition from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from Auburn University.
