SNP Founder and President Linda Cornish to Speak at Capitol Hill Ocean Week 2025

Linda Cornish, a nationally recognized advocate for seafood nutrition, will be a featured speaker at Capitol Hill Ocean Week (CHOW) 2025. The free event will take place from June 2–5, 2025, in Washington, D.C. Cornish will participate in a panel discussion titled “Red, White, and Blue Fisheries: Advancing U.S. Seafood Competitiveness” on Tuesday, June 3, from 1:15 PM to 2:30 PM in the Amphitheater of the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, located at 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW. The panel will be moderated by Kristy Clement, chief executive officer of the Alaska Fisheries Development Foundation, and will also feature panelists Dave Hogan, director of the Office of Marine Conservation at the U.S. Department of State; Emily Menashes, deputy assistant administrator for operations at NOAA Fisheries; Imani Black, founder of Minorities in Aquaculture; and Buddy Guindon, founder of Katie’s Seafood Market.

As founder and president of Seafood Nutrition Partnership (SNP), Cornish has played a crucial role in raising public awareness about the health and nutritional benefits of seafood consumption and its importance in addressing America’s public health crisis. At CHOW 2025, Linda will emphasize the need to incorporate seafood into the American diet and how it contributes to individual health and national food security.

The session will discuss the strategies and innovations required to strengthen America’s seafood sector, including increasing domestic production, reducing reliance on foreign and illegal imports, enhancing infrastructure, developing the workforce, and fostering public engagement. Cornish’s insights will complement a broader conversation on building a resilient, sustainable, and competitive U.S.-centered seafood system.

“I’m thrilled to take part in this important conversation,” said Cornish. “Promoting the health benefits of seafood is critical to the national dialogue on sustainable food systems and public health.”
