Iona Yates

Summer 2024 Fellow
Iona Yates serves as SNP’s Summer 2024 Fellow, contributing to the implementation of our Eating for Brain Health program by organizing classes with community partners, coordinating fundraising dinners, and engaging with local foundations.

Having graduated from The University of Colorado Boulder with a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs, Iona discovered her passion for food policy during her senior year through a policy paper. Her research focused on the impact of Western food policies on communities dependent on quinoa for culture, sustenance, and livelihood.

Motivated by the urgent need to address systemic inequities, especially in underserved and economically challenged communities, Iona is committed to promoting accessible, nutritious food options to alleviate the burden of food deserts.

This Fall, Iona will embark on her journey as a Food Policy master candidate at the City, University of London. She eagerly anticipates bringing her knowledge back to the United States, aspiring to instigate positive change within the American food system
