John Burrows is the current Seafood Technical Director at the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute, having the great privilege of representing the seafood producers of Alaska in a diverse set of projects, outreach efforts, and events. John has been involved in seafood for roughly 8 years, having been drawn to the industry by a keen interest in the health benefits regular fish consumption offers.
At ASMI, John works extensively on seafood topics with a wide variety of individuals from across the sector. These topics have a high degree of variance, from direct research as well as generation of outreach and educational materials for numerous audiences, and engaging on industry’s behalf on intra-agency endeavors. John serves as an industry resource on technical matters, has been the principal investigator on numerous NOAA Saltonstall-Kennedy Grant projects, and has also served as President of the Pacific Fisheries Technologists annual conference.
